The Smashing Pumpkins return to Manchester. The Chicago band will be arriving in the UK this November ahead of the release of their new album Oceania. Singer/guitarist Billy Corgan, guitarist Jeff Schroeder, drummer Mike Byrne and bassist Nicole Fiorentino have spent 2011 working on the new 13 track record which they’re calling “an album within an album”. This will be the band’s first full collection of new material since 2007’s Zeitgeist and is part of their ongoing 44-song concept record Teargarden By Kaleidyscope.
Back in 2009, frontman Billy Corgan revealed that their new material “harkens back to the original psychedelic roots of The Smashing Pumpkins; atmospheric, melodic, heavy and pretty.” In November fans will be able to find out first hand if it lives up to his promise. The Smashing Pumpkins kick off their 2011 UK tour in Manchester on Friday November 11. Full details can be found below.
