NEWS: PINS sign to Bella Union and announce UK Tour

Manchester band PINS, who have been the definition of 'hype' for the last couple of months have managed to take the step from being highly tipped to actually being signed.  After being courted by a number of labels it has been confirmed that Bella Union are the chosen people to take this band into the next stages of their music career. PREVIEW: Young Knives – Sound Control, Manchester, 22nd September

It was third time lucky for this Oxford based indie rock trio. Before finding Young Knives success, brothers Henry and Thomas Dartnall and buddy Oliver Askew sold their sound under the tame title of Simple Pastoral Existence. A brief split saw them reform under the guise of Ponyclub before a misunderstanding of the term 'Young Knaves' saw them land on the name we're all familiar with. PREVIEW: Deap Vally – Soup Kitchen Manchester, 7th September

Who are these two scantily clad lascivious looking women pictured above?  The answer is Deap Vally, a gritty blues-rock duo from the San Fernando Valley. What they seemingly lack in clothes they make up for in a raw, uninhibited, White Stripes style back-to-basics sound. Vocalist and guitar player – essentially the Jack White in this comparison – Lindsay Troy, screeches as though possessed by the voice of Janis Joplin while her riffs squeal in a similar ilk.
