A Beginners Guide to Neighbourhood Weekender 2018

Victoria Park in Warrington will soon be the home of the Neighbourhood Weekender 2018. Taking place over the course of May Bank Holiday Weekend, the festival has an incredible line-up consisting of some of the best upcoming indie and alternative bands along with some of Manchester’s finest. Here is our beginners guide to Neighbourhood Weekender 2018…

The Big Moon

The line-up for Neighbourhood Weekender 2018 includes a fair amount female artists, which is a massive step in the right direction compared to other festivals. The Big Moon, an all-girl four-piece from London are on the bill for the Saturday. The indie rock band have voiced that they’re ‘working on new things’ over social media. So hopefully they’ll play some new stuff over the weekend!

DMA’s

Coming in all the way from, Sydney, Australia. DMA’s will be performing at Neighbourhood on Sunday. With their second studio album, For Now, released just a month prior to the festival along with a string of UK gigs. DMA’s are a MUST for Britpop and Madchester fans alike, there’s no doubt they’ll be a crowd favourite.

Hey Charlie

Another all-girl band on the line-up who originate from London. Hey Charlie are a three-piece rock band with a definite grunge influence. Still being fairly new on the scene, Hey Charlie will be playing Neighbourhood Saturday. We’re sure they’ll manage to get the crowd going no problem.

Miles Kane

Miles Kane has been away working on his third studio album after spending time touring the world in baroque pop supergroup The Last Shadow Puppets. The Merseyside rock and roller has plenty of experience getting the crowd going, Miles Kane will no doubt charm you with his swagger on stage.

Courteeners

With 2018 being the ten-year anniversary of their debut album, St Jude, the Manc band are more than deserving Saturday night headliners. With a more than loyal fanbase ready to sing their hearts out throughout the entire set, flares included! Courteeners put on one hell of a performance start to finish and are must see for the entire weekend.

Blossoms

The Stockport five need little to no introduction after the past few years they’ve had. Supporting the likes of The Stone Roses, Noel Gallagher and Courteeners. Blossoms will drag in a huge audience during their Sunday Night slot. Playing songs from their new album, Cool Like You, the “Charlemagne” indie-rockers are worth the hype.

Black Honey

Fronted by Izzy Baxter, this is another strong female-fronted alternative rock band on the line-up that oozes cool. Having supported the likes of Royal Blood and Catfish and The Bottlemen on their UK tours, Black Honey have a string of catchy songs that’ll have no problem getting the crowd moving.

The Blinders

Originating from Doncaster and now situated in Manchester. The Blinders are one of the heavier bands on the line-up for Sunday. With a killer punk attitude and attitude towards politics. The three-piece are refreshing to listen to. We’ll see you in the pits for these!

Anteros

This indie-pop band are perfect for a summer’s day. Fronted by Laura Hayden, the band have said to have taken influence from the likes of Blur, The Cure and Arcade Fire. With captivating vocals and great stage presence, Anteros are a must see for the Sunday.

Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds

Last but by no means least, whether you’re team Noel or team Liam. Noely G is the Sunday night headliner and we can’t think of a more suitable artist to finish off the festival. With the Manc legend releasing his third studio album, Who Built The Moon, which features the likes of Paul Weller and Jonny Marr. There’s plenty of songs to dance along to. However, there’s certainly no better way to polish off an amazing weekend than with some classic Oasis songs.
