CULTURE: Best Student Club Nights in Manchester

With so many universities in and around Manchester – University of Manchester, Manchester Metropolitan University, and neighbouring University of Salford – Manchester has one of the highest student populations in Europe and we all know that being a student means going on lots of nights out. However, we also know that being a student means funds are limited, so here’s a list of the best student club nights in Manchester that won’t break the bank…

The Deaf Institute

Located on Grosvenor Street right next to Manchester Metropolitan University, the Deaf Institute hosts a Girls on Film club night every Saturday, with lots of classic 80s music from the likes of Madonna and Elton John to dance to and enjoy. If that hasn’t already won you over, there’s free entry before 12pm, and free Babycham before 11pm! Don’t worry if you arrive late though because it’s only £3 entry with a student card and drinks are £5 for a double. The Deaf Institute has a packed calendar which you can check out here, so there’s bound to be something to your liking.

Gorilla

Under the railway tracks on Whitworth Street West, Gorilla hosts a variety of live music and club nights every week and serves delicious grilled food if you fancy a bite to eat before hitting the town. The venue hosts a variety of gigs, comedy shows and events year round, all of which are relatively affordable – perfect for cash-strapped students. Gorilla also serves £5 cocktails every Friday night from 5pm-8pm, so what’s not to like? You can check out their busy calendar here.

Satans Hollow

Found on Princess Street, Satans Hollow is one of Manchester’s few venues that cater for fans of punk, rock, and metal music, which is part of the reason why it’s so popular among the young clubbing population. Satans Hollow presents Roadkill every Friday night, featuring the very best in hardcore, electro, ska, rock, punk, and metal. However if you’re a student, it’s all about Tuesday night with the venue hosting a free (that’s right, FREE) bar from 10pm-11pm for lucky punters who manage to get in early enough. Satans Hollow’s resident DJs will play until the early morning with two different rooms to choose from and reasonably priced drinks on offer. Be sure to head on down before 10pm when entry is only £2, or it’s £4 after.

Mint Lounge

If you’re looking for a classic club experience in the Northern Quarter, then you need to head to basement space Mint Lounge, where it hosts regular Top Of The Pops nights. From 10:30pm-4am every Friday, and for only £4 on the door, you can listen to a soundtrack of mega hits all night – from Taylor Swift to T-Rex. As well as being one of the most popular nightclubs in Manchester’s Northern Quarter, Mint Lounge has a backroom area with tables and booths that are also available for private bookings at a reasonable price. You can buy tickets to their next Top Of The Pops night here.

Factory

Factory hosts Quids In every Monday night, and could be the cheapest night out for students that Manchester has to offer. From 11pm-4am, you can choose from three floors of music: Hip-Hop and RnB, Indie and Pop, or House and Tech. It’s only £1 entry and £1 drinks are served all night! It almost sounds too good to be true, so head on over to Princess Street to check it for yourself, or have a look at Factory’s website for more information and events.
