Manchester Gig Guide: May/June 2018

Summer is fast approaching! And with some of us finishing school, university or just looking forward to having some time off, there’s no better way to celebrate than with a good gig! We’ve put together a Manchester gig guide from May to June, giving you all a heads up on who’s playing over the next few weeks and who you definitely don’t want to miss!

Who? Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds

When? Saturday, 4th of May

Where? Manchester Arena

With his sibling rivalry growing stronger by the day, Mr Gallagher is back in his hometown to perform songs from his latest album, Who Built The Moon, along with some of Oasis classics! What’s more, this’ll be Noel’s first gig back in Manchester since performing at the arena last year during its new opening.

Who? Fuzzy Sun

When? Saturday, 19th of May

Where? Soup Kitchen (Over 18s Only)

Following in the footsteps of Blossoms, another Stockport band that is worth checking out are Fuzzy Sun. The psychedelic rock five-piece have recently released their debut ep, Want Love. We can’t think of a better way to spend the evening than having a boogie to these guys!

Who? Snail Mail

Where? Gullivers (Over 18s Only)

Coming all the way from Baltimore, America. Snail Mail are embarking on their first headline tour around the UK. Fronted by singer-songwriter, Lindsey Jordan, the three-piece indie rock band have managed to capture growing pains and bittersweet heartache felt throughout our teenage years.

Who? James Bay

Where? Albert Hall

With his second studio album, Electric Light, out on the 18th of May, this is Bay’s first gig back in Manchester in almost two years. Making a noticeable change in sound with his new single, “Pink Lemonade” and having Lily Moore as support, the night will be nothing short of amazing performances from both.

Who? Twisted Wheel

When? Friday, 1st of June

Where? Band on the Wall

With frontman Johnny Brown voicing over social media that the band are back together and back in the studio working on new music, this gig is highly anticipated amongst fans, us included! Supporting Liam Gallagher later that month, the wheel is officially back and turning once more!

Who? The Rolling Stones

When? Tuesday, 5th of June

Where? Old Trafford Football ground

No introduction needed for one of the most influential bands to leave this tiny island of ours. The Rolling Stones are playing in Manchester for the first time in over fourteen years! Surely their return is more than a reasonable excuse for a gig on a Tuesday night! Right?

Who? Foo Fighters

When? Tuesday 19th of June

Where? Etihad Stadium

Now Dave Grohl is all mended from his accident a few years ago, Foo Fighters are back and raring to go. With stadium anthems that will no doubt have you screaming from the top of your lungs regardless as to whether you’re in the pit or up in the seats, Foo Fighters are proof that if it ain’t broken, don’t fix it!

Who? L.A Witch

When? Wednesday, 27th of June

Where? Soup Kitchen

This all-female trio has been perfectly described as garage-blues rock. Having been on the road for almost seven years making a name for themselves, the trio are a breath of fresh air and will no doubt find a space here in Manchester’s music scene.
