Manchester’s Best Brunch Spots

Everyone loves a spot of brunch: no need to get up early, two meals merged into one, and an excuse to dine out before town gets too busy. Whether you realise it or not Manchester is one of the best places to grab some avocado toast or a fruity açaí bowl at both ends of the price spectrum, and your favourite places to eat your evening meal might just surprise you with an eclectic brunch menu. Give brunch a chance at the following Mancunian nooks.

Black Dog Ballroom

With locations in both the Oxford Road and Northern Quarter areas of Manchester, Black Dog Ballroom is a stylish franchise favoured by students and well-aged Mancunians alike. The brunch offered at both is simplistic and value for money with a choice of eight dishes and a bottomless drinks option, which combined with your choice of one dish comes in at £25 and allows you to sip on anything from a classic Bloody Mary or mimosa, to coffee and soft drinks. What more could you want? If dining in large groups, there is an online booking option to be certain of getting a table, visit their website.

Albert Schloss

Peter Street’s favourite (only) German inspired outlet, Albert Schloss, is renowned for its mad themed nights and drag events as well as its cuisine, so after a headache inducing night, how about visiting this diamond in the rough for a wide selection of both breakfast and lunch options sure to rid you of even the strongest hangover symptoms? From pastries to smoothies, royal breakfasts to burgers and sandwiches, Albert Schloss have you covered. Some of the prices are not for the faint hearted, but at £2.50 a pop for a coffee you’d be foolish not to start there, and for those who prefer hair of the dog there are of course breakfast cocktails to be had too. Neighbourhood

This celebrity haunt located in the Spinningfields area of Manchester is already renowned for its tapas style sharing eats so it comes as little surprise that they offer a brunch menu to be reckoned with. As well as the classic eggs Benedict and avocado toast options, Neighbourhood have also opted for a Bottomless Brunch option offering one of the brunch dishes along with unlimited breakfast cocktails or soft drinks for a grand total of £30pp. You may get the impression that this is not one for a small budget, and you’d be right, however the quality and exclusive-feeling experience is something else and as a one off it can make you feel like a King or Queen.

HOME

Known for its support and showcasing of the arts, HOME on Tony Wilson Place across from the original Haçienda site also serves as a restaurant and bar with a fantastic brunch offer. This more relaxed setting offers an array of brunch dishes all under £10 until 4pm every day, including Tostada, Soup & Sandwich, and vegan options ‘VLT’ and Vegan Cheese Toastie. This brunch is just easy, affordable and in a beautiful and richly cultural setting – perfection?

Bill’s

With a prime location on Manchester’s John Dalton Street, Bill’s Restaurant offers its breakfast menu until midday on weekdays and 1pm on weekends, which is cheating on brunch but you’ll forgive that when you take a look at the menu. With coconut porridge, eggs four ways and a granola sundae available you’re spoilt for choice and due to everything being priced under £10, there’s no excuse not to try Bill’s!

Ezra & Gil

A shining jewel in the crown of Manchester’s Northern Quarter, Ezra & Gil translates literally to ‘Helper & Happiness’ and is a self confessed ‘evolutionary concept in urban coffee, café culture and general provisions’. What you see is what you get with this rustically themed coffee house, and following this their all day brunch is quirky and delicious, ranging from smoked salmon on rye to a vanilla chia breakfast bowl, along with a few veggie and vegan recipes thrown in for good measure.

West Corner

Perched on Hilton Street you will find the innovative West Corner deli-diner. With different brunch menus for the week and weekend West Corner will always offer something unique, including twists on classic breakfasts such as the French Filler which combines croissants with egg, avocado and camembert, and the Breakfast Club sandwich to get your weekend off to the best start. West Corner provides something different and fun, so if you’re up for some sunshine in the morning, whatever the weather, give them a visit.
