Revealed: Björk, Mogwai, Metronomy, Yard Act and more heading to bluedot 2022

Lolly Adefope, Adam Buxton, Stewart Lee and more round out the fest’s comedy offering

Björk, Mogwai, Metronomy, Yard Act and many more acts are heading to bluedot 2022 as the festival makes a long-overdue return to Jodrell Bank from July 21 to 24.

Having been forced to cancel their past two events due to covid, this award-winning celebration of music, science and culture is returning with a bang – with their recently released line-up promising a truly unmissable weekend that features something for everybody.

Leading the way is an exclusive appearance from Iceland’s finest Björk who will be performing a unique set developed directly with the Manchester’s Halle Orchestra and featuring bespoke projections beamed onto the Lovell Telescope at Jodrell Bank.

The iconic songstress is joined on the bluedot bill by Groove Armada, Spiritualized, A Certain Ratio and Tim Burges, and the Mercury-nominated Hannah Peel and Paraorchestra, who will be on hand to debut their recent project, The Unfolding, during a Thursday night opening performance.

Meanwhile, the festival’s comedy and culture offering is just as strong.

Writer, director and cult-hit comic Stewart Lee will be in attendance to debut his new music documentary King Rocker, podcaster and comedian Adam Buxton will deliver a live rendition of BUG, while This Time With Alan Partridge star Lolly Adefope, Desiree Burch, Olga Koch, Robin Ince, Rob Rouse and Ahir Shah will be on stand-up duty throughout the weekend at the on-site comedy tent.

However its science that sets this fest apart – and in this area, bluedot 2022 continues to make waves. Professor Jim Al-Khalili from Radio 4’s The Life Scientific, historian and filmmaker David Olusoga, space scientist Monica Grady and The Sky At Night‘s Chris Lintott are among the event’s key speakers, with Wallace and Gromit creators Aardman animation providing a host of entertainment for the kids.

With festival season returning to full strength after a difficult two years, a return to bluedot festival couldn’t be more welcome. Tickets go on sale at 10am on Friday 4 February – to bag yours, simply head to the bluedot website.
