New Century: Three floor music, event & street food space opening this summer

Iconic Manchester building undergoes £10m renovation to become brand new social hub

One of Manchester Grade II listed buildings is set to transformed into a new social hub that’ll house live music, events, educational classes and independent food vendors.

You may recognise New Century Hall for its central location. It’s housed between Victoria Station and Shudehill and just a stone’s throw from the city’s vibrant NOMA district. After undergoing a £10m renovation, the building will reopen its doors this summer, bringing with it a brand new lease of life.

According to the team behind the refurb, New Century will house an 800+ capacity live music and events venue, a mix of independent kitchen take-overs and an innovative creative college with the aim of helping visitors develop new skills and create new opportunities.

This spacious new social destination will span three floors, each featuring complimentary entertainment with the ultimate goal of nurturing a thriving new creative community within the city-centre.

It’s got the historical credentials to match its lofty aspirations too. Over the years, New Century Hall has played host to a wide array of famous faces – from Jimi Hendrix, The Rolling Stones and Tina Turner, to The Bee Gees – before turning its attention to club nights during the 80s.

It’s hoped that the venue’s revamped live music space will play host to touring bands, while the 10,000 sq ft New Century Kitchen will welcome five independent food vendors alongside a permanent pizza place and coffee bar. Once opened, punters can expect to find an array of local beers, wines, artisan coffees and a vibrant cocktail menu, providing a complimentary experience to the nearby Sadler’s Yard.

Meanwhile, New Century’s basement will become the home of Access Creative College – an established college that counts Ed Sheeran as one of it’s recent graduates. This educational hub will include a media centre and production pods – helping to kick start careers in the creative sector.

An exact opening date is TBC but you can expect to visit New Century sometime this summer. To find out more, head on over to the venue’s website.
