Falmouth’s garage rockers head to Manchester head of new album release Absolute Reality

With a new album dropping imminently, South Coast garage rock quartet Holiday Ghosts is currently in the midst of an express UK trek, with a show at Manchester’s Yes basement due to take place on Wednesday, 13 April.

Fronted by vocalist/guiarist Samuel Stacpoole and accompanied by vocalist and drummer Katja Rackin, guitarist and backing vocalist Benedict Nightingale and bassist Morgan Lloyd Matthews, the band’s latest release, Absolute Reality, marks their fourth record to date and comes shortly after the debut of acclaimed 2022 EP Credit Note.

With a bunch of UK shows currently underway, the foursome have teased what’s in store by releasing new album track “Vulture”. Take a listen by clicking play below.

Splicing a laid-back, low-fi sound with dreamy vocals and earworm hooks, Holiday Ghosts’ latest looks set to help them continue their rise in the UK’s ever-growing alt-rock scene. Speaking about new release “Vulture,” frontman Stacpoole explained: “This song has had two lives. I remember playing it a lot five or six years ago on acoustic guitar as a kind of spaghetti western instrumental.

“It was half the speed and really atmospherically menacing. I’ve lost interest in musically pretending that I’m in a western movie now,” he continued. “When reimagining this track I’d been obsessively listening to the first The Cure compilation ‘Boys Don’t Cry’ and Young Marble Giants/Weekend. That style of production which has so much emphasis on space really got under my skin”.

Fans can delve into Absolute Reality when it drops on Friday, 21 April 2023 on FatCat Records. In the meantime, find details of Holiday Ghosts current UK tour dates below, including a Manchester stop at Yes Basement on Wednesday, 13 April.
